The Franciscans in Medieval Bury St Edmunds edited by Francis Young will be published by the Suffolk Records Society this autumn. Between 1233 and 1263 the Franciscan monks had moved into Bury St Edmunds and what followed was a fierce confrontation with St Edmunds Abbey. This volume brings together a range of documents produced by monks of St Edmunds Abbey, the papal curia, the royal chancery and the medicant friars and details the extraordinary events of the thirteenth century.
