About Us
The Suffolk Records Society was founded to encourage the study and preservation of Suffolk Records from the Middle Ages to the present day. Since 1957 it has worked tirelessly to bring these documentary sources of Suffolk’s rich history to a wider audience. Its success can be measured by the publication of an edited volume of records or documents every year since the Society was established.
The Society is governed by a Council made up of experienced historians and enthusiasts for Suffolk history. Together we meet several times a year, contributing our knowledge both to the running of the SRS and the publication of future volumes.
The Society works closely with the leading academic publisher, Boydell & Brewer, itself based in Suffolk. Boydells print our volumes to the highest standards and market further copies of our volumes worldwide. This enables the SRS to provide our members with a high quality book at an advantageous cost whilst also ensuring the widest audience for our volume editors.
